Nathaniel Howe is a former movie and television director/producer, now a part-time professor of film and television at UCLA, where he serves as director of the UCLA International Film Studies program. In addition, he has studied for his PhD in philosophy at Princeton University. He has been a faculty member at the University of California, Santa Cruz since 1989. He has taught numerous courses in film and television courses, including Introduction to Film and Television, History of American Television, History of Science Fiction TV, and The History of the Future
His work has been published in a number of academic journals and books, including Cinema Journal, Critical Studies in Media Communication, The Journal of Popular Culture, and Film & History.
